Bringing the street into your home.
Soma is a governmentally provided drug for the people living in Aldous Huxleys 'Brave New World'.
It represents a way to escape pain, discomfort, embarrassment, sadness or anger and to enhance joy, arousal, and an overall sense of well being
Soma is a symbol of the use of instant gratification to control the World State's populace. It is also a symbol of the powerful influence of science and technology on society. As a kind of “sacrament,” it also represents the use of religion to control society.
I'm a self taught artist living and working in Liverpool U.K
It's here, amongst it, that I find the creative factors that drive my work and a canvas on which to express them.
If im not adding to the citys fabric with my paintings and pasteups then im taking inspiration from it to inform my studio work where there can be found represented aspects of Liverpool life, culture and attitude. My practice encompasses Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Graphic Design, Typography and Digital Art.
My art has been exhibited both at home and abroad, indoors and out and can be described as being anything from purely aesthetic, to tongue in cheek, to the very thought provoking socio-political. I have always disliked the academicisation of art so find the directness and inclusiveness of Street Art a perfect home from which to explore arts transformational power, I see art as the essential and irreplaceable one true universal cultural language that should be accessible to everybody
So please take a look at my work...buy something if you wanna... if theres anything you'd like to ask me then send an email using the contact form below.. but please spread the good word to whoever, wherever and however you can.
